When lightsabres and swords collide! Two mighty fantasy universes are coming together for the next Star Wars movie after The Rise of Skywalker which will be overseen by Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss by 2022. This new out-of-the world news was announced by Disney CEO Robert Iger at Disney’s annual Upfronts event.
Iger is seen quoting as per Variety, ‘’We’re hard at work already, but we felt three years was the proper amount of time to not only take a breather and reset, but to gear up for the next film’s release,
We did a deal with David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, who are famous for Game of Thrones, and the next movie we release will be theirs. We’re not saying anything more about that’’.
It however remains unclear what the new Star Wars movie will be about, however it is understood the story will be a separate one from the Skywalker saga. With Iger only labelling it as the “next movie,†it remains unclear if the movie of Benioff and Weiss will be only doing one film, or if there will be another standalone film in between. Disney recently announced an unnamed Star Wars movie for 2022, so we know where the new Star War movie of David Benioff and D.B. Weiss fit into the puzzle.
Fans are however not amused with the announcement following the plot development of the latest Game of Thrones episodes that even led the two creators to show up as ‘Bad Writers’ on google search result. And they have made sure to express their displeasure by taking it to Twitter about the Big announcement tweeting that the pair known informally as "D&D," might ruin Star Wars.Â
Check out some of the tweets:

Please do not use D&D for #starwars. They are not good writers... Just look at the mess that is GOT now. No Rian Johnson or Weiss and Benioff #Disney. Stop killing Star wars...
