The last and final season of one of the most popular fantasy drama series Games of Thrones is all set to premiere worldwide this year. HBO has revealed that the highly-anticipated show will premiere on April 14, 2019. The announcement was made alongside a new teaser called Crypts of Winterfell. The teaser shows Sansa Stark, Arya Stark and Jon Snow facing their own statues as a frost approaches through the tunnels, and the Starks show that they are prepared it down or die trying.

Watch the new teaser below:

The teaser was directed by franchise Emmy winner David Nutter. It also includes an original score from fellow Emmy winner Ramin Djawadi. This is the last and final season of the show and will consist of just six episodes. The April premiere date will also make Game of Thrones eligible for the 2019 Emmys. GOT 7 took home nine awards, including the outstanding drama series honour.

At the 76th Golden Globe Awards, a snippet from GOT 8 was aired which showed Emilia Clarke, Kit Harrington and Sophie Turner in one frame. The shooting began in October 2017 and wrapped 10 months later. We simply can’t contain our excitement for the premiere date only, let alone the first episode of Season 8 itself!
