HBO series Game of Thrones’ may be done and dusted with, but does not mean a few unanswered questions are left to be so such as Drogon melting the Iron Throne. Although Drogon destroying the Iron Throne could mean a destruction of a figure that is held responsible for the mushy mushed battles of Westeros, or a symbolic response to Jon Snow killing Daenerys Targaryen killing, the real reason behind the destruction in the last episode is far from what you’d imagined.
It was a mistake! An excerpt from The Iron Thrones' script which as come into the public’s view read,
‘’We look over Jon’s shoulder as the fire sweeps toward the throne ― not the target of Drogon’s wrath, just a dumb bystander caught up in the conflagration.
We look through the blades of the throne as the flames engulf it, and blast the wall behind it. We see the throne in the flames, turning red, then white, then beginning to lose its form. We get tight shots of the details melting in silhouette: the armrests, the iconic fan of swords on the backrest. The fire stops. The smoke clears revealing a puddle of smouldering slag where the throne once stood. Who will sit on the Iron Throne?’’
‘’Not the target of Drogon’s wrath, just a dumb bystander caught up in the conflagration! Yup you read it right!
The eighth and final season that climaxed in May saw a stopping review form angered fans that even led writes David Benioff and D. B. Weiss to pop up on Google as ‘bad writers’.
