Troubles for HBO and their pet show Game of Thrones don’t seem to abate anytime soon.
In a latest, the same hackers who had stolen up to 1.5 terabytes of data after breaking into HBO’s servers and leaked personal phone numbers and home addresses of several cast members of Game of Thrones have, in a rather nerve-racking message have threatened to leak the final episode of Game of Thrones’ seventh season.
“Be ready for GOT S& E6 &E7 as soon as possible,” the hacker group said in an email dispatched on Saturday.
The group identifies itself as the Mr Smith Group. According to The Guardian, the hackers had demanded a huge amount from HBO for not releasing further data.
Later, HBO released an email according to which the network had agreed to pay $250,000 as part of a negotiation over data stolen from HBO's servers.
In an email to Mashable, the hackers said that they wanted the attention of HBO executives and have reportedly demanded approximately $6.5 million in Bitcoin (approximately Rs 41 crore).
