GoT: Pay of lead cast per episode for 8th season will pop your eyes wide open
The HBO fantasy drama, Game of Thrones finale season is out and the pay scale of these leading actors will surprise you more that than Daenerys’ sudden transformation into Mad Queen burning King’s landing and murdering amasses. A leading publication broke the salaries down of these 'Game of Thrones' characters based on season 8 screen time and trust us the salaries surprise us more than this popular series plotline, character development, narratives, action, deaths and….. Dragons, of course!
Lena Headey playing Cersei Lannister tops “Tier A cast Salaries.” The last season of Game of Thrones has a total screen time of 434 minutes, out of which Cersei got official screen time of 25 minutes. Her salary is reported to be around $1.2 million which comes down to 8, 40, 03,000 rupees. If done the math, her remuneration per minute would come down to $48,000, which would be Rs. 33,60,000 ‘approximately’ Well, that’s clearly not it! Remember the episode where she is sipping wine and looking at the raging war from far off? Well, for that scene she earned Rs 33 lakhs per minute. Now that’s what Tywin Lannister meant when he said, “a Lannister always pays his debt.”
Emilia Clarke playing Daenerys Targaryen is making just as much as other lead characters in the show. Emilia was not a known face before GOT and she definitely has made the most out of it. Her growing populaity throuse the course of the 7 sesaons made her smartly negotiate and bag a salary of $500,000 per episode. Her salary is calculated at $6,500,000 for the show’s final two seasons, with her net worth slashing at $13 million.
Peter Dinklage is amongst those who get paid $500,000-per-episode. His total pay matches that of other Tier A stars and totals at $6,500,000 pay for seventh and eighth seasons. Tyrion Lannister known for his wits accounts $15 million net worth. I guess that’s the price you get when you are every fan’s favorite.
Kit Harington playing Jon Snow re-negotiated his pay several time owing to his huge popularity. From season 7 onwards his pockets were overflowing with $500,000 per episode. Sophie Turner, though plays a pivotal role, gets paid less than the Tier A stars. She likes to call it “You know what…you keep it”. But this does not mean she’s making less. The two celebrity and reel life sisters Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner were making the salary i.e. $150,000 per episode up until season 6. Now with the advent of season 8, we are sure there pay scale must have increased by some grand percent.
