Game of Thrones finale which ended last week saw an eruption of the drama’s 8-year-long journey in a bloodbath resulting to the deaths of some of our favourite characters. The season saw the death of at least a dozen of the characters much to the utter shock of many. Game of Thrones writer Dave Hill however revealed that one character who died in the episodes leading up to the finale almost made it to series end and the revelation will make you furious.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Hill revealed that protector and friend Ser Jorah Mormont who met with a tragic end after he was stabbed multiple times by wights, while defending Daenerys Targaryen, during the Battle of Ice and Fire in ‘’The Long Night’’ was actually supposed to live.

“For a long time we wanted Ser Jorah to be there at The Wall in the end,” writer Dave Hill says. “The three coming out of the tunnel would be Jon and Jorah and Tormund. But the amount to logic we’d have to bend to get Jorah up to The Wall and get him to leave Dany’s side right before … there’s no way to do that blithely. And Jorah should have the noble death he craves defending the woman he loves.”

While we are relieved that Jorah didn’t live up to the point to see his khaleesi turn into the Mad Queen, we are also curious at the thought of how he would have reacted to see the transformation of Daenerys as she goes on a killing spree. Iain Glen, who played Jorah on the show also added that it was probably best for his character that he wasn't around to see Daenerys become a villain.

"There's a sweetness in that because Jorah will never know what she did," Glen said.

"That's probably best. It's a blessing for him that he never found out what happened to her. And from a pragmatic story point of view, his death served a greater purpose. Where could we have taken Jorah from there? F-- if I know," he added.

GOT came to a dramatic end on Monday with a mixed review from the masses disappointed with the ending that leaded up even to a mass petitioning for the whole episode remake.
