Filmmaker Guy Ritchie is reportedly in talks to direct Disney's live action "Aladdin" film. If Ritchie signs on to direct the film, it will reunite him with producer Dan Lin, who worked on the "Sherlock Holmes" movies. Jonathan Eirich has signed on as executive producer and John August has written the script for the remake.
The film will reportedly feature many of the musical elements from the 1992 animated movie and moviemakers are still working on how to approach the Genie character in the film. The animated wish granter in the Disney film was voiced by the late Robin Williams.
The film was also adapted into a Broadway show in 2014.
