The final season of Lucifer will see a special send-off as Netflix has announced that the fifth and final season with have an additional six episodes. The streaming service announced last month that it would end the Tom Ellis-led drama with a 10-episode fifth and final season to launch in 2020. However, on Friday, the addition of six hours was announced on the official NetflixUS. The move to add additional episodes may have come from ardent fan support, the same base believed to have gotten the former Fox show moved to Netflix

According to Screenrant, the comic book adaptation previously had only 10 episodes in its final season and the extension will take the number to 16.

The supernatural series stars Ellis in the tile role of Lucifer Morningstar, Lauren German as Det. Chloe Decker, Kevin Alejandro as Det. Dan Espinoza, D.B. Woodside as Amenadiel, Lesley-Ann Brandt as Maze, Aimee Garcia as Ella Lopez and Rachael Harris as Dr. Linda Martin. Season 4 also stars series newcomers Inbar Lavi as Eve and Graham McTavish as Father Kinley.

Lucifer 5 is yet to be given its premiere date.
