A new documentary about Madonna’s former romance with New York-based musician Dan Gilroy is slated to uncover “deeply personal” letters.

Gilroy, who once fronted the one-hit-wonder band Breakfast Club, dated Madonna for approximately 18 months starting in 1979. He has handed over “stacks of letter and photos to director Guy Guido for the project,” reported the New York Post.

Titled “Emmy and the Breakfast Club”, the documentary will also include “re-enactments” and interviews that tell the story of 58-year-old Madonna’s life when she used to live in an abandoned synagogue in Corona, Queens.

While much of the film will centre around Madonna’s relationship with Gilroy, the project is also expected to explore her relentless drive as a singer.

Guido expects to complete the film by January 2017
