In case you are struggling to spot any difference between Baby Simba from Jon Favreau’s The Lion King with cub Bahati, then stop! Because behind the otherworldly cute baby Simba is cub Bahati, a now fully grown tigress who was the model for the technically stunning and wildly successful Diseny remake starring Donald Glover, James Earl Jones, Seth Rogen, Beyoncé, Billy Eichner.
According to the Texas zoo, Bahati, a female lion, Disney was sent oodles of cute footage of the little lion cub Bahati to be used as model for baby Simba in the remake of the 1994 Disney classic. “When Bahati was just a month old, we provided Disney with video of her movements for their animation team to use for motion and behavior reference when designing Simba in The Lion King,” the zoo shared on Facebook.
The utterly cute baby lion that was sent to Disney shows then Bahati as a month-old cub who is now a fully-grown, two-and-a-half-year-old lioness. The Jon Favreau movie despite its mixed review saw the biggest opener at the box office in terms of remakes smashing through the $500-million milestone in 10 days of release.
