Days after Bong Joon Ho’s Parasite made history at the 92nd Academy Award, ‘Minsara Kanna’ producer PL Thenappan has come forward with claims that the multiple Oscar-winning movie’s plot is stolen from his 1999 movie that starred Vijay in the lead roles. In fact, PL Thenappan has also shown interest in taking the case forward by telling a daily that he will be filling a case against the filmmakers while also seeking a compensation,
"On Monday or Tuesday, I will be filing a case with help from an international lawyer. They have taken the plot from my film. When they find out that some of our films have been inspired by their films, they file cases.
‘Similarly, it is only fair for us to do the same," Thenappan told thenewsminute.
Drector, Ravikumar, however, is, but happy if the Oscar willing movie ever happens to have been inspired by his movie telling the daily,
"I'm happy that the story has received an Oscar, even if it (Minsara Kanna) served as an inspiration. However, filing a case is up to the producer," Ravikumar said.
As for the movies, Boon’s 'Parasite' is s satire on social class and tells the story of a poor family that slowly immense themselves into the lives of a wealthy family for their own benefits, while Minsara Kanna is about a wealthy young man who pretends hail from a poor family, gets employed with a rich family to win his lady love.
On Sunday evening, Bong Joon-ho's "Parasite" created loads of history by becoming the first foreign language film to win the Best Film award from South Korea, the Best Director, Best Original screenplay and also Best Foreign Film.
