When it's mother's day, you must not forget to tell your mother that you love her the most and one of the easiest ways to convey the message is to watch a great movie with her. If you have NetFlix at home here are the best five options you can choose to make the day special for her.
1: Philomena (2013)
Based on the 2009 investigative book by BBC correspondent Martin Sixsmith, The Lost Child of Philomena Lee, PHILOMENA focuses on the efforts of Philomena Lee (Dench), mother to a boy conceived out of wedlock — something her Irish-Catholic community didn't have the highest opinion of — and given away for adoption in the United States. In following church doctrine, she was forced to sign a contract that wouldn't allow for any sort of inquiry into the son's whereabouts. After starting a family years later in England and, for the most part, moving on with her life, Lee meets Sixsmith (Coogan), a BBC reporter with whom she decides to discover her long-lost son. It is a heartwarming movie and a must watch to feel the bond a mother has for her son even when she decided to take the harsh decision of parting him away.
2: August: Osage County (2013)
AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY tells the dark, hilarious and deeply touching story of the strong-willed women of the Weston family, whose lives have diverged until a family crisis brings them back to the Midwest house they grew up in, and to the dysfunctional woman who raised them.
3: The Kids Are All Right (2010)
The Kids Are All Right is the heartfelt new comedy from acclaimed director Lisa Cholodenko, starring Annette Bening, Julianne Moore, and Mark Ruffalo. Two teenaged children (Alice in Wonderlands Mia Wasikowska and Journey to the Center of the Earths Josh Hutcherson) get the notion to seek out their biological father and introduce him into the family life that their two mothers (Bening and Moore) have built for them. Once the donor (Ruffalo) is found, the household will never be the same, as family ties are defined, re—defined, and re—re—defined.
4: Erin Brockovich (2000)
In 1993, Erin Brockovich (Julia Roberts) is an unemployed single mother of three children, who has recently been injured in a traffic accident with a doctor and is suing him. Her lawyer, Ed Masry (Albert Finney), expects to win, but Erin's attitude in the courtroom makes her lose the case. She tells Ed he should find her a job in compensation. Ed gives and subsequently hires her as a file clerk in his office.
5: Gilmore Girls (2000-07)
Ok it’s not a movie but this is something which should not be missed to celebrate the best of mother daughter relationship. Gilmore Girls stars Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel as a mother and daughter dealing with the trials and tribulations of life in idealistic Stars Hollow, CT.
