Spanning at 3:30 minutes and an impressive cast of Martin Scorsese’s favourite, Robert De Niro along with Al Pacino and Joe Pesci, the gangster movie had mixed responses from users with many calling the new flick ‘boring’. Of all the sea of ‘boring’ tweets Scorsese received, Netflix decided to pick up one tweet which read, ‘Debated watching The Irishman on my phone for this four hour bus ride but I feel like Scorsese will magically appear and beat my ass if I do’. This particular tweet by the viewer seems to be a response to Scorsese’s statement where he had said, “Well, I would suggest — if you ever want to see one of my pictures, or most films — please, please don’t look at it on a phone, please. An iPad, a big iPad, maybe.”
he absolutely WILL appear but instead of a beating he will simply sit across from you for the entire film and twinkle his eyes in a grandfatherly way that says “it’s ok my child, formats and presentation matter, but your experience of art is valid no matter how you receive it” https://t.co/67fz3RWg02

The sly dig at Scorsese didn’t go unnoticed by Netflix who decided to tweet back to the user, ‘’ he absolutely WILL appear but instead of a beating he will simply sit across from you for the entire film and twinkle his eyes in a grandfatherly way that says “it’s ok my child, formats and presentation matter, but your experience of art is valid no matter how you receive it”.
Despite sitting at 96 per cent ron Rotten Tomatoes and 86 per cent from the audience score, The Irishman received a fair share of haters who took to social media to call the movie ‘boring’.
"I tried to watch The Irishman on Netflix. After 90 minutes I shut it off and put on the Knicks game. It was just a boring and long version of Goodfellas with actors 20 years past their prime!’’ a user tweeted.
Another user dragging in Scorsese’s remark on Marvel by calling it ‘not a cinema’ wrote, ‘’I just prefer comic movies more since it’s something I like. Movies like the Irishman just aren’t really for me. So yeah I probably would fall asleep during a long movie that I’d find slow and boring’’.
