Kevin Costner who played the bodyguard to Whitney Houston’s Rachael Marron in The Bodyguard has dropped a huge bomb regarding the 1992 movie. More than 26 years after the movie and 22 years after Princess Diana’s death, Costner revealed a huge secret about the movie about a bodyguard that falls in love with the singer he guards.
Sitting down with Lola Ogunnaike on PeopleTV’s Couch Surfing, Costner revealed that the Princess of Whales almost landed as his costar for the sequel that never took place, Bodyguard 2.
“The studio liked the idea of doing a Bodyguard 2 [with Princess Diana] in the same kind of capacity as Whitney,” Costner reveals. “Nobody really knew that for about a year’’ Costner said.
Costner in fact, on Princess Diana's birthday added that the princess was in with the idea the star presented.
“I just remember her being incredibly sweet on the phone when she asked the questions,” Costner says. “She goes, ‘Are we going to have like a kissing scene?’ But she said it in a very respectful — she was a little nervous because I think her life was very governed’’ Costner added.
Well, the reveal is just but another blow for the Queen of people fans who missed the chance of never seeing her on the big screen. Costner, meanwhile is currently starring in Yellowstone, which was just renewed for a third season.
