The 69th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards held on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at the Microsoft Theater in Downtown Los Angeles, honoured the best in US prime time television programming from June 1, 2016 to May 31, 2017.
The programmes were chosen by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.Â
The 69th prime-time Emmy Awards came to an end with Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale winning the ceremony’s big award - Best Drama Series while other winners include This is Us, The Crown, and The Night Of and Big Little Lies.Â
This year’s awards function saw the host Stephen Colbert declaring US President Donald Trump the ‘biggest story of the year’ on television while Sean Spicer, the former White House press secretary, made a surprise appearance.
Our very own Priyanka Chopra, who was one of the presenters at the Emmys, made news for an amusing reason when her name was announced as ‘Priyanka Choppa.’
Priyanka Chopra presented the Emmy to British satirist John Oliver for Last Week Tonight.
