Priyanka Chopra has confirmed to play the character of controversial cult woman Ma Anand Sheela.

The story of Osho and Ma Anand Sheela has intrigued a lot of Filmmakers in the past. Netflix’s docu-series Wild Wild Country turned into a massive hit as it unveiled on the digital platform. Now, Priyanka Chopra has confirmed to play the character of controversial cult woman Ma Anand Sheela developing Wild Wild Country into a feature film. The actress has joined hands with American director Barry Levinson for the project.

The actor made the big announcement as she appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show marking her second inning on the show.

As Ellen mentioned about Wild Wild Country, Priyanka said, “Yeah, I am developing a feature film with Barry Levinson. He did Rain Man and he is an iconic American director. And we are developing it as the character of Sheila, who was this guru (Osho) who originated from India, his right-hand woman and she was just devious and created a whole cult in America and brought people here. He was called Osho. I am developing that next for me to star in and produce in which I think would be really cool.”

On Ellen DeGeneres’ show, Priyanka Chopra also rolled out the release date of her upcoming rom-com Isn’t It Romantic. The film releases on February 13.

Ma Anand Sheela is an Indian-born American-Swiss former spokeswoman of Bhagwan Rajneesh and Osho movement who managed the Rajneeshpuram ashram in Wasco County, Oregon, United States. She was multiple convicted attempted murderer and sentenced to 20 years in federal prison and paroled after 39 months.

Priyanka Chopra will be next seen in Bollywood film The Sky Is Pink, directed by Shonali Bose.
