Robert Downey Jr and Rami Malek had a fan-boy moment over each other on Ellen. The Iron Man star who appeared on the Ellen Show to promote his new movie Dolittle, revealed how he was a huge fan of Malek that drove him to serial text the Oscar winning actor after seeing Mr.Robot. Downey, 54, adding that he took quite his time to convince the stunned Malek that is was indeed him behind the screen.
"I was such a fan of Mr. Robot, I basically emailed you, and I was serial texting you and I was trying to FaceTime you and you didn't let me weird you out and now we're friends’’ Downey said.
As for Malek, who thought he was being rudely pranked given that fact that it was Robert Downey Jr, the James Bond villain said,
"I couldn't even believe it was you. For a second, I got the email from Robert and I thought, 'OK, somebody's playing tricks on me.' And then they kept coming and they were so witty."
Downey Jr. then jumped in, joking: "I hired writers!"
Malek went on: "It got to the point where I thought it could be no one else but you. This friendship has continued, you came to visit me on set, I couldn't believe that."
Downey Jr. added: "Oh that was so cool!"
The two now star together in the upcoming movie Dolittle, which Malek revealed was all down to the Avengers star.
He explained: "You called me. Of course, this usually goes through a number of agents and whatnot, but when RDJ calls you, it's like, 'Yeah, sure, I'll come do it'."
Dr. Dolittle's adventures releases this 17 January.
