If reports are true, Endgame might not be the end for Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man after all. Four months after Avengers put Tony Stark to rest a new source claims that Downey will return as Tony Stark in new Disney+ project called Ironheart. According to We Got This Covered, Marvel bosses are prepping a series based on Ironheart, the teenage genius who continues Tony Stark’s legacy in the comic books. The report claims that Downey will return in a voiceover role as an AI much similar to Paul Bettany’s J.A.R.V.I.S – and will help her train to become a superhero.

Marvel is however yet to comment on the report, but it’s certainly enough to have fans psyched for now.

Ironheart first debuted on the page in 2016 when Stark was in a coma and the world needed a techsuperhero. The character however received heavy criticism for the inaccurate portrayal of a typical black female teenager and the lack of black female writers on staff for the character.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Ironheart follows Riri Williams, the teenage genius who continues Tony’s legacy in the comics
  • The character of Ironheart – real name Riri Williams – is introduced when Stark is in a coma
  • Marvel is however yet to reply to the reports
