Tom Holland’s Spider-Man may finally live through to be the protégé of Iron man as he is returning to MCU after the Disney and Sony fallout. “I am thrilled that Spidey’s journey in the MCU will continue, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it,” says Marvel Studios co-president Kevin Feige according to Variety. The announcement hence, means Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios will be making a third Spider-Man movie together after Spider-Man: Far From Home.
“Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe. He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse, you never know what surprises the future might hold’’ Feige added.
The news came just a month after Sony announced that Spider Man is exiting the MCU following the two studios failure to come to an agreement over a new financial deal where Disney wanted a 50/50 against the 5 per cent cut on all revenue made via Spider-Man films.
News of Spider Man’s exit from MCU let to a huge blowout from the friendly web-slinging hero who took to social media to bring back the hero back to Marvel’s universe. Commenting on the support from fans Spider-Man star Tom Holland said at Disney’s biennial D23 fan convention in August, “It’s been a crazy week, and I love you all from the bottom of my heart, and I love you 3000’’.
As of now, the next Spider-Man movie — the third in Sony’s Homecoming trilogy — is set to be released on July 16th, 2021.
