Singer Taylor Swift will be honoured with the award named after her.
THe BMI Pop Awards announced Monday that at its 64th annual iteration, set for May 10, Taylor Swift will receive the Taylor Swift Award, reported Entertainment Weekly.
The 26-year-old “Bad Blood” hitmaker will be the first to receive such an honor.
“This evening is a true celebration of music and a tribute to the artistry of songwriting that spans generations as defined by three of the most prolific and influential music creators in the industry: Taylor Swift, Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil,” BMI President and CEO Mike O’Neill said in a press release.
BMI has given an eponymous award once before in 1990 when it bestowed the Michael Jackson Award upon Michael Jackson.
