Disney is remaking its 1994 classic, The Lion King, and it is a walk down the memory lane. What is exciting about this remake is the diverse fan base the very loved animation has. As an animation of the early nineties, it has the fans both of the millennials and the Generation Zs. One of Disney’s biggest hits, this excellent film echoes Shakespeare’s plots of betrayal both in Richard III and Hamlet. So, be prepared to witness the betrayal of Musafa all over again!

It has Simba, the young cub who is forced to leave the Pride Lands after his father Mufasa is murdered by his wicked uncle, Scar. Years later, he returns as a young lion to reclaim his throne. Although, unlike Hamlet, The Lion King does have a happy ending that makes eyes bawl out.

Disney, on Thanksgiving, released a 1 minute 32 seconds teaser trailer of The Lion King that first aired at the NFL’s traditional Thanksgiving primetime game and it is giving fans all the feels. The film, produced by Walt Disney Pictures and helmed by Iron Man director Jon Favreau, is a photorealistic, computer-animated movie featuring a power-house of vocals that includes Donald Glover as Simba, Beyoncé as Nala, and James Earl Jones as the scheming Mufasa. Hans Zimmer is also returning to score the film, while Elton John is coming back to rework some of his original compositions.

In the trailer, we can see the iconic moment in which Rafiki presents a young Simba to the animals of the Pride Lands with the quintessential shot of Simba being hoisted above the rock. All the while, James Earl Jones’ narration as Mufasa plays while the original film’s opening track Circle of Life can be heard in the background.
