A myth all too familiar for time travelling, parallel universe aficionados, Nick Christensen’s ‘The Man of Taured’ or ‘The Mysterious Tale Of The Man From Taured’? asks more questions than it ever did answers. And the fact that the mysterious story of the mystery man never got solved has hence prompted even more talks for a possibly of a ‘parallel universe’ or ‘time travel’ which director Christensen laid out bare to us as a movie? The story goes that in 1954, a mysterious-looking man arrived at the Tokyo International Airport claiming to have arrived from a mysterious country called Taured.
The story of an ordinary-looking man got downright creepy when, the authorities on checking his passport that legit looked real mentions ‘Taured his country, a country that is no-where visible in the world map or anywhere in existence for that matter. Persistent that his country did exist, the Caucasian-looking man pointed to the area occupied by the Principality of Andorra, and was even more puzzled as to why his country was called Andorra on the map that lead to a huge tussle of words as the myth goes.
Given the confusion authorities were prompted to put the mysterious looking man that also spoke French among other languages behind bars guarded by two guards only to discover the next morning that the man had completely disappeared from his cell leaving no clue whatsoever, a polar constant ending to Shawshank Redemption’s epic escape.
So, when does the question of time travel and the possibly of a parallel universe come into play here?
Much like Elisa Lam’s mysterious elevator story that still continues to ask more questions, though authorities levy her mysterious death on bipolar disorder, the disappearance of the mysterious man from Taured has a lot of alternate endings with the possibly of a parallel universe and time travel being the prime.
The two man possibilities that bare the possibility of possibilities are, the man from Taured had somehow passed through a parallel dimension by accident, and ended up at Haneda Airport further hinting at the possibility based on this explanation, there is a parallel earth which is known as Taured while it is known as Andorra in our universe. The other possibility is that the man was a time traveler from the future, who might have accidentally dropped on the earth and hence vanished.
