Tom Hanks’s next biopic role will you have all hooked up for more updates. According to Hollywood Reporter, the Forrest Gump star is in negotiations to play Elvis Presley's iconic manager Colonel Tom Parker in Baz Luhrmann's untitled biopic for Warner Bros. Baz Luhrmann, who is behind iconic movies like The Great Gatsby and Moulin Rouge is reportedly making an untitled Elvis Presley biopic that will focus on Presley's rise and zenith, with a major aspect being his relationship with Parker.
The actor to play the King of Rock and Roll, however, has not been determined and insiders told Hollywood Reporter that a search has not yet begun. If a deal is made, Hanks will play Col. Tom Parker, the legendary manager who controlled every aspect of Elvis' life.
Parker discovered Presley when he was just an unknown and quickly moved in as his lone representation. Parker was responsible for various milestones, including Presley's record deal with RCA and his successful acting career. Parker died in 1997 at the age of 87 and went on to win Presley a recording contract with the RCA Victor record label, and made him a star with his first single Heartbreak Hotel.
Luhrmann is planning to get the film into production sometime this year.
