Exactly 34 years after the release of cult classic ‘Top Gun’ in 1986, Hollywood legend Tom Cruise is all set to reprise his role as fighter pilot in Top Gun: Maverick. The trailer of the ambitious sequel has been released and understandably it has gone viral. The adrenaline rush that you get in first 5 seconds of the trailer will leave you breathless.

Cruise is coming back as ‘Maverick’, the super-talented fighter pilot, who is trying to fit in the new world of fifth generation fighter planes and drone technology. The Hollywood star had earlier described as Top Gun: Maverick as the ‘love letter for aviation.’

talking about the sequel, Cruise said that, “Aviators are back, the need for speed.” He also added that, “We’re going to have big, fast machines. It’s going to be a competition film, like the first one … but a progression for Maverick.”

Directed by Joseph Kosinski, the film will focus on Maverick's service in the modern military. The film also features Jake Picking, Raymond Lee, Jean Louisa Kelly, Lyliana Wray, Greg Tarzan, Jennifer Connelly, Monica Barbaro, Glen Powell and Ed Harris. Kara Wang and Jack Schumacher have recently boarded the film.

The original Top Gun, directed by Tony Scott, was a surprise hit in 1986, making over $350m worldwide. Top Gun: Maverick will be released on 16 June 2020. 

Cruise is also coming with yet another thrilling movie in Mission Impossible series. After delivering the highest grossing and most acclaimed entry in the franchise, director Christopher McQuarrie is reported to make a come-back for another next two Mission Impossible films. According to Variety, director Christopher McQuarrie has signed up to wheel another two new instalments of the blockbuster franchise, which is expected to hit the theatres in the summers of 2021 and 2022.
