Actor Viggo Mortensen is all set to make his directorial debut with family drama Falling. The film, which is about a son's relationship with his aging father, has been written by the actor and he will also produce it. The 59-year-old actor will also star in the project and he will be joined by Lance Henriksen and Sverrir Gudnason in the cast, reported Deadline.

Mortensen will play John Petersen who lives with his partner Eric and their adopted daughter Monica in Southern California. His father Willis (Henriksen) is a farmer whose attitudes and behaviour belong to a more traditional era and family model.
