James Gunn directed Suicide Squad 2 will see an exit of Will Smith among the team of the dangerous imprisoned super-villain squad. Deadline has confirmed that the actor and rapper will not reprise his role as Deadshot in Suicide Squad. Sources told Variety that Will Smith, who played Deadshot in the original, is not expected to return for the studio’s upcoming sequel. Though the studio has never officially confirmed who would be returning for The Suicide Squad, insiders say the studio has always wanted its biggest stars like Smith and Margot Robbie, who played Harley Quinn in the first pic, to return while figuring out other casting decisions along the way.
While no cast is set as of yet, Margot Robbie is reported to likely return in the signature role of Harley Quinn. She’s already reprising the Joker’s girlfriend in Cathy Yan’s Birds of Prey which is slated to open on Feb. 7, 2020.
