Who says Andhadhun is just a thriller? It is two hours and thirty minutes of a complete package that includes comedy, drama, romance, suspense, and of course thriller. Sriram Raghavan has in his latest thriller manages to keep the audiences at the eleventh hour without losing a second’s attention. One question that plays in the mind from the initial minute to the concluding second (and especially at the finishing line) is ‘So, what happens next?’

Andhadhun keeps the heart pacing, but with a constant smile flickering in the eyes as well as lips. A murder is committed. The director does not struggle in making the scene any more stereotypically predictable by hiding the murder but instead does something entirely different. The crime is revealed, the criminal is revealed, even the motive is revealed, however, an unexpected character adds more mystery and the cliffhanger grows continuously!
Aakash (Ayushmann Khurrana) plays a blind (andha) pianist in search of his tune (dhun). Pramod Sinha (Anil Dhawan) plays a yesteryear who is married to gold-digger and foxy, Simi (Tabu). Then there is a muscular cop who specialises in being at the wrong place at the wrong time. A doctor, who asserts to do good, but what he does, cannot be really counted under the umbrella of noble work. Even the little cute munchkin has his size-share in the delictum. In short, a web of lies connect these people, who master the art of saying something, doing something else, while the outcome turns out be poles apart. Amid these bunch of liars and not-so-innocent beings, the sweetheart Sophie (Radhika Apte) is the only one who plays what-you-see-what-you-get character. She is as much in love with the adorable musician, as we are, but she has to work her way to get the audience attention.

The hearts-in-our-mouth situation is one solid and constant part of the movie and the increasing body counts unfold the enigma. With each murder, the fingers are crossed, and all one could guess was ‘Who will be dying next?’ or ‘whom to trust?’
The rock solid performances stay intact through the entire movie. Tabu’s work stands out and the actor has a knack to rightfully justify her character. Anil, being a yesteryear star playing a yesteryear star, is simply adorable. Radhika is in her own natural pretty and chirpy self. But the leading man, Ayushmann manages to keep every eyeball (pun intended) glued to his character.
The movie songs are fittingly apt with the film that revolves around a pianist. The melodies strike the precise chord of the heart. The protagonist who sings while playing his piano is a sight to sore eyes and similar scenes have been running in the film industry for decades.
Although the film manages the consistency, it sags a bit in the second half, but quickly gets back on the game! The perfect jokes that land on point plays the magic. Andhadhun is a stew of suspense thriller with light-hearted comedy.

Andhadhun is a worth watch and will leave you wondering on your way out of the theatre. As said earlier, even the concluding second will make you question “Now what?”. The racy, pacy and perfectly pulpy movie, with all its twisty-funny turns, will keep you glued to your seats and won’t let you take your eyes off the big screen.
