Fukrey Returns Movie Review: The Infamous Four does it again!

New Delhi :

Back in the year 2013, the infamous four Delhi boys won hearts of the audience with their perfect comic timings and good storyline. The gang of Honey, Choocha, Lali, Zafar and Bholi is back in more funnier, freakier mode with their messed up lives in the sequel.

Directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, the cast of ‘Fukrey Return’ is more or less the same as original. Pulkit Samrat, Richa Chaddha, Varun Sharma, Ali Fazal, Manjot Singh play the lead roles and Priya Anand, Vishakha Singh, Pankaj Tripathi and Ishteyak Khan will be seen in pivotal roles.

So, before you plan to watch the film yourself, take a look at some of the reviews on the flck by leading dailies:

Times of India - To watch 'Fukrey Returns', you don't necessarily have to watch the first part, because the director clearly explains the entire story in the opening credits. However, it's a fun film which we recommend you watch. So is this one. In fact, it is funnier than the first part. That familiar craziness you've seen in the characters is not just back; it has doubled, in fact.

The Indian Express - Fukrey, a 2013 film about a bunch of feckless Dilli fellows who fall afoul of a foul-mouthed female don, and some random layabouts, was an unexpected success. To want to run off a sequel is understandable. What doesn’t make sense is to make this return such a slog. The actors are (more or less) the same. But the situations are so tired and contrived there’s nothing that even such capable hands as Richa Chaddha and Pankaj Tripathi can do, to retain our interest.

Desimartini - Fukrey Returns is very much like its predecessor, in the sense that the film has kept alive the comedy and the humour is the most spontaneous and natural way possible and that the plot and the performances are just as strong. The film begins with a brief flashback of part 1 (in the best way possible). The Fukrey boys had been enjoying the best time of their lives, but now that Bholi Punjaban has managed to get out of jail, would they still be able to enjoy their lives?

Financial Express - There is a kind of quirky credibility in the way the characters of “Fukrey” have grown on us ever since they were seen in the first “Fukrey” film. It’s been nearly five years. But we haven’t forgotten Hunny, Choocha, Lali, Pandit and, last but not the least, the woman who won’t be put on a leash, Bholi Punjaban. Please note, I make no mention of Zafar, played by Ali Fazal, as his character remains strangely sketchy, unfinished, incomplete. He is a Fukrey on the look-out for a more fleshed-out platform of expression.

Times Now - First things first, the film is loaded with some genuinely funny jokes. Just like its prequel, Fukrey Returns is no slapstick comedy and to tickle your funny bone, it primarily relies on quirky writing and clever direction. The director milks the best from each one of the actors to bring in all the laughter. Cinematographer Andre Menezes' love for Delhi is palpable in a number of shots. From Connaught Place to the iconic Hanuman statue in Karol Bagh, Andre treats us to all the beauty the capital has to offer. Music of the film is decent. The title track and the song Tu Mera Bhai Nahi Hai stay with you
