Judwaa 2 movie review: Varun Dhawan's entertaining performance is a nostalgic journey for Salman Khan's fans

Cast: Varun Dhawan, Taapsee Pannu, Jacqueline Fernandez, Upasana Singh, Anupam Kher

Director: David Dhawan

Stars: 2.5/5

Remember superstar Salman Khan's much popular 90's release 'Judwaa'? The movie which despite not cracking the great box office numbers managed to be a great entertainer and it is indeed one of our favorite Salman Khan movie.

And after two decades, director David Dhawan came up with a remake of his directorial but not with Salman. Instead, it was Varun Dhawan who stepped into Salman's shoes.

Yes! The young actor is seen in a double role for the first time and he has done a great job in playing Raja and Prem.

Synopsis: Judwaa 2 is a story of two identical twins - Raja and Prem - who are separated at the time of birth by a smuggler who kidnaps one of the kids. While one grows up to be an utterly sweet, innocent, 'seedha-saadha' guy, the other one is a complete tapori, but a die-hard lover of Lord Ganesha, who knows all the tricks to get his work done. Both are having their share of ups and downs in their respective worlds until fate brings them together in the one city. There begins the entire humorous chaos of humor, villain, bichade maa-baap, love-story and what not.

Review: Well, the story was not anything what we hadn't seen before in Salman Khan's starrer except for some minor changes in the storyline.

So from 1997 to 2017, nothing much had changed for the Judwaa movie and the story does slog at times. But it is Varun Dhawan who has managed to lift up the spirit of the movie.

The actor has not just shown up his bindaas style for the tapori avatar but his comic timings did added spark to the other wise boring storyline.

Besides, his uber-cute appearance as the 'seedha-sadha ladka', mindblowing dancing skills and superb action sequences proved to be a bonus point.

Apart from Varun, the supporting cast did a great job too. Lead actresses Jacqueline Fernandez and Taapsee Pannu looks at their sassy best setting the screens on fire. Although we have seen Jacqueline in such an avatar, it was Taapsee who was the surprise packgae in the movie. Undoubtedly, both the divas have made sure to do justice to the Karisma Kapoor and Rambha's characters.

On the other hand, the movie also had Kapil Sharma's bhua aka Upasana Singh who was seen cracking some lame jokes. But she too has super funny moment with Varun Dhawan which might make you scream 'Oh My God!'.

And how can we forget the smashing entry of the original Judwaa Salman Khan who is also seen in the double role. Undoubtedly, the Sultan actor manages to steal the show 'double' power with his cameo, making the audience go crazy.

Moreover, the music adds on some brownie points to this chuckalicious movie. From recreating the popular tracks like 'Oonchi Hai Building' and 'Tan Tana Tan', to adding some more foot-tapping numbers, the music of Judwaa 2 is indeed a chartbuster.

So overall, this Varun Dhawan-starrer will take you a nostalgic journey with a pinch of modern humor in it and is a complete entertainer for Salman Khan fans. Besides, Varun Dhawan's mirthful avatars will certainly make you fall in love with him once again.
