The much-awaited film of Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan, Simmba, finally released at the box-office today. The film has received positive reviews from the critics. Ranveer Singh plays Sangram Bhalerao, who is an unabashedly corrupt policeman. He makes the local ganglord Durva Ranade (played by Sonu Sood) his "bhai from another aai" to ensure a regular inflow of bribes.
In between minting money, Ranveer falls in love with Shagun (played by Sara Ali Khan), who runs a catering service. He even finds a sister in a 19-year-old medical student, Aakruti, who teaches orphans in her free time. The story takes an unexpected turn when Aakruti is raped and killed by smuggling ring run by Durva's brothers.
For the first time, the audience is watching Ranveer playing the role of a cop. Rohit Shetty has put all the elements of entertainment and fun in the movie, thus making it worth-watching. Shetty has been able to draw fantastic performances from Singh and the supporting cast comprising Ashutosh Rana as Constable Mohile and Siddharth Jadhav as Tawade.
A well-calculated cameo by Ajay Devgn is designed to send the crowds in a frenzy as is a surprise appearance by a certain Veer Suryavanshi at the end. Music has played an important role in the film. Songs like Aankh Mare and Tere Bin will make you shake a leg and fall in love with the onscreen pair of Ranveer and Sara. Badshah, Tanish Mukherjee and other singers have given us the chartbuster songs of the year.
Simmba- the film, undoubtedly, will benefit from this embrace and will add up to magical numbers, taking Ranveer Singh to the new stratosphere of stardom, where he clearly belongs.
