Taapsee Pannu’s most talked movie that deals with domestic violence finally opens at the theatres and just like its trailer, the critics and movie buffs are ga-ga about the impact it creates with resounding sound of its ‘slap on patriarch’. Thappad narrates the story of a couple played by Taapsee as Amrita and Pavail Gulati when the husband in a fit of rage slaps his wife and things take a drastic turn with the central protagonist not coming in peace with the insult or show of violence she was subjected two. Negative trends like #BoycottThappad too has hit the movie, but Taapsee, who attended anti-CAA protests talking to Times of India said, that such tends can never affect the performance of the movie. “I might have different social and political views from a lot of people but that does not mean people will not go and watch the film. An actor is never bigger than a film. A film has hundreds of people involved in it. It is stupid to decide whether or not you will watch a movie based on an actor’s socio-political views.”
Meanwhile, the Kamal Nath government in Madhya Pradesh has made Thappad tax-free.
