Vicky Kaushal starrer Uri: The Surgical Strike, one of the most anticipated movies of the year 2019, hit the screens today. And well, with the hard hitting dialogues and power-packed action sequences, the film is off to a good start. The film is based on 2016 Indian Army’s surgical strike as a retaliation of the Uri attacks on an Indian army camp in Jammu and Kashmir’s Uri.
Story: The plot of the film revolves around Major Vihaan Shergill (Vicky Kaushal), who led an attack on a camp on the Indo-Myanmar border, where a large group of terrorist have gathered. If you want to find an insight into the hearts and minds of brave men and women who willingly put themselves forward in the line of fire, you won’t find it here.

Acting: With back to back extraordinary performances in Raazi and Sanju, Vicky Kaushal is back to the silver screens with yet another striking performance. He has proved that there’s no one like him when it comes to versatility and great acting skills. The film also stars Yami Gautam and well, we can say that she is finally back with a bang. Rajit Kapur plays PM Narendra Modi, and seems to be around to ask a few questions and give reaction shots. The real hero is Govind Sir played by Paresh Rawal, who is modelled on National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.
Direction: Directed by Aditya Dhar, it’s a revenge film from the word go. From gun battles, hand to hand combat scenes to precisely planned drones, Dhar has brilliantly executed each and every shot. Dhar has successfully kept us hooked to our seats and managed to leave us pretty impressed. It’s probably the best result any director can expect from a film based on real life events until you’re still looking for proofs. The film has started on a good note and it may earn a good collection.
In the end, we would like to say that Uri: The Surgical Strike has many exciting moments. Don’t be surprised to see hooting and whistles all around when Indian army officers blast terrorist camps in Pakistan.
