Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, who had been hospitalised for 28 days, returned home last week. She shared a sweet post on Twitter thanking the team of doctors who took care of her.

''For the past 28 days, I was at Breach Candy hospital. I was diagnosed with pneumonia. The doctors preferred that I extend my stay in hospital and go home when completely healthy. My doctors at Breach Candy have been my guardian angels and I stand in eternal gratitude to each one of them. The nursing staff has been exceptional. Your endless love and blessings are precious,” she tweeted.

Lata's sister and singer Asha Bhosle has now offered fans an update about the former's health. Asha confirmed that the veteran singer is “hale and hearty”, adding that all the family members were there for her sister’s homecoming. A Mid Day report quoted Asha as saying, ''We were all there for her homecoming. She is back and we are overjoyed. She is looking hale and hearty. I was looking at her last night, and at once, so many songs that she has made immortal with her voice came back rushing to me.''

In her over seven-decade long career, Mangeshkar has lent her voice for thousands of songs in Hindi, regional and foreign languages. Her last full album was for the late filmmaker Yash Chopra-directed 2004 film Veer Zaara. Mangeshkar recorded her latest song this year - Saugandh Mujhe Is Mitti Ki, which was released on March 30 as a tribute to the Indian Army.

Born on September 28, 1929, Lata Mangeshkar has been awarded the Bharat Ratna, highest civilian honour Bharat Ratna in 2001. In 1974, the Guinness Book of Records ranked her as the most recorded artiste in the history. She had reportedly sung over 25,000 songs between 1948 and 1974.
