Eminem’s estranged father, Marshall Bruce Mathers Jr has reportedly died at the age of 67. The father of the Rap King, whose real name is Marshall Mathers III but went by Bruce, reportedly died near Fort Wayne, Indiana after suffering a heart attack at his home, though his exact cause of death remains unclear.
According to TMZ, Bruce never met his son which the multiple Grammy-winning rapper frequently mentioned in his songs such as “My Name Is” and also addressed the rumours of his father walking out of the family in “Cleanin’ Out My Closet’ referencing his own daughter Hailie: ‘My fa***t father must’ve had his panties up in a bunch ‘Cause he split, I wonder if he even kissed me goodbye. No, I don’t, on second thought, I just f**kin’ wished he would die. I look at Hailie, and I couldn’t picture leavin’ her side.’
Eminem's mother, Debbie married Bruce when he was 22 and she was 15, and they had their son 2 years later. The couple soon split up shortly leaving Eminem and his mom in Detroit.
In previous interviews, Eminem when addressing about his estranged father told reporters that he had, in many occasions, written him letters but also returned back to him as ‘return to sender’.
“My father? I never knew him. I’ve never even seen a picture of him,” he said. “I heard my dad is trying to get in contact with me, but not now. I never got one letter. I never got anything from him and I think he could have at least tried to write. He could have done something – made an effort’’ Eminem also once told The Mirror.
