Farhan Akhtar has released his new single Why Couldn't It Be Me from his album Echoe
Farhan Akhtar has released his new single Why Couldn't It Be Me from his album Echoes that tells the story of a young boy faced with emotional dilemma. The song is about love and relationship and is Farhan Akhtar's latest endeavor to tackle atrocities against women, according to a release.
Farhan took to his social media and shared, "Why couldn’t it be me? My new single is out now on all platforms, worldwide! Love. Share. Commenthttps://www.fanlink.to/farwhy"
Inspired by an article on Peshawar attack, the actor-singer penned the song, a release said, adding that Farhan describes the album Echoes as "a powerful and emotive journey into the pain of guilt".
It said the article was about a young boy who pretended to be sick in order to bunk school and stay home and on the very same day the Taliban stormed into an army school and shot over 200 children.
"After the 2014 massacre in Peshawar in Pakistan, when the Taliban stormed into an army school and shot over 200 children - I read an article about a mother whose younger son hadn't gone to school that day because he'd pretended to be sick but his older sibling had gone and got killed in the massacre. When I read that story I thought it must be such a strange dilemma for a young boy- 'that could have been me in place of my brother' he must have thought. So, that thought got me writing, and I wrote 'Why Couldn't It Be Me' from the perspective of that younger brother," the actor said in a release.
Revealing more about the making of the song and the album, Farhan was quoted as saying in the release: "Over the last two years I was just working on films non-stop. So, I felt that I needed some time out for myself, to reconnect with other things, to look at where my life's at. I wanted to channel what I was feeling, and put it out there, just to share it with people and I found that process very cathartic."
In September, Farhan had released his first English single Rear View Mirror and his first Hindi single Jaane Ye Kyun Kiya. Earlier, Farhan debuted in Bollywood with Rock On!!, a musical. He sang in the film.
Apart from shooting for films, Farhan has been performing in many shows not just at home but also in the UK and the US.’
On the acting front, Farhan will be next seen in The Sky Is Pink. The film also stars Priyanka Chopra.
