Veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar was admitted to Mumbai's Breach Candy hospital a couple of days back after she complained of breathing difficulty. The singer who was kept in life support is now 'showing signs of recovery’ reported news agency PTI. Her family is waiting for her ‘complete recovery’ after which she can return home will take time.
A source from the hospital told PTI today morning that Lata Mangeshkar has been diagnosed with pneumonia and chest infection: "She is showing some signs of improvement but it will take time for her to recover. She has pneumonia and chest infection. Any person suffering from it takes time to recover from it," a hospital insider told PTI.
Lata Mangeshkar was admitted to the intensive care unit of the Mumbai hospital in the early hours of Monday with her family members, including sister Asha Bhosle being spotted visiting the hospital
Her family last day has issued a statement saying that she is 'stable and much better'.
''Statement from #LataMangeshkar's family: Lata di is stable and much better. Thank you very much for your prayers. We are waiting for her to be at her best so she can be home soon. Thank You for being with us and respecting our privacy,'' the statement released by Mangeshkar’s family read.
On Monday, Lata Mangeshkar's health updates sent a scare among her fans. The veteran singer's PR team too came forward to clm down her fans and issued a statement on Tuesday that said, "Her parameters are good. Honestly speaking, she has fought so well that she is coming out of this setback. Being a singer, her lung capacity has pulled her through. Truly a fighter. We will update everyone when Lataji gets discharged and comes home. (We) request that we give family the space they deserve at the moment," the statement read.
Mangeshkar has lent her voice for thousands of songs in Hindi, regional and foreign languages. Her last full album was for the late filmmaker Yash Chopra-directed 2004 film Veer Zaara.
