New Delhi:

Bollywood’s recent obsession of remixing old songs has not been appreciated by the ones who has originally made the. Today no music album from a movie is complete  with at least one rehashed song where they retains the tune and the catch line but works on the lyrics and beats sometimes making the track lose its essence. Dancing diva Malaika Arora who shot to fame with the ‘Chaiyaa Chaiyaa’ number in Shah Rukh Khan starrer Dil se too belives the same and in no way will side by a music composer if he remakes the song.

"Chaiyya Chaiyya", sung by Sukhwinder Singh and Sapna Awasthi, for the Mani Rathnam was an all-time favourite of any 90s kid and still finds a place at dance shows in schools or college fests. Malaika recently took ‘India’s Best Dancer’ stage to groove to its tunes once over again and when asked by IANS if she would want the song to be remixed, Malaika said, "In today's day and age there is a constant trend of remixes. There are a few songs that I think you should never touch. They are iconic. There must be five or 10 songs over the years that you can pull out. 'Chaiyya Chaiyya' is one of them. Don't tamper with it, just let the original be and that's how it should be"

Making clear that she has nothing about re-creation the Bollywood dancer said that some of the remixes according to her are ‘fantastic’ but some classic creations like ‘mother India, ‘Godfather’ should never be touched. ‘You should just let them be’ quipped the reality show judge.

Taking about her experience while working on the iconic dance song, Malaika shared she was assisted by Geeta Kapur who was assisting choreographer Farah Khan at that time.

Chaiyaa Chaiyaa had Malaika and Shha Rukh matching steps atop a trop on the hilly terrain of ooty(the Nilgiri Mountains). The song gained cult status and since then there was no looking back for Maliaka. The song was shot for four and half days and had no camera tricks, back projections or post –production special effects.
