Masakali 2.0 has ruffled feathers in Bollywood and sparked a memefest on social media. A horrible remix of AR Rahman's beautiful composition from 2009 movie Delhi 6, Masakali 2.0 has been recreated by Tanishk Bagchi. Ever since the video of the song was released on YouTube, netizens have just one question in mind - WHY? While the 2009 song was a soulful rendition by Mohit Chauhan with brilliant lyrics penned by Prasoon Joshi, the 2020 version has been recreated by Tanishk Bagchi. The remix is sung by Tulsi Kumar and Sachet Tandon. The video features Sidharth Malhotra and Tara Sutaria. The chemistry might be spot on, but the song is a torture to the ears. With the corona lockdown stalling all production work in Bollywood, people are wondering what was the need of the remix. The memes are an absolute gem and in some cases better than the remix! So what are we waiting for? Here are the best of the social media reactions. Just chill and enjoy the creativity of the netizens:

Music maestro AR Rahman, the composer of the original masterpiece, is displeased with the remix. Without taking any name, he urged fans to listen to the original 'Masakali', which was a dig a Bagchi and his team. Rahman posted a short note on his official Twitter handle"No short cuts, properly commissioned, sleepless nights, writes and re-writes. Over 200 musicians, 365 days of creative brainstorming with the aim to produce music that can last generations. A team of a Director, a Composer and a Lyricist supported by actors, dance directors and a relentless film crew. Lots of love and prayers A.R. Rahman."

Shot entirely indoors, the remix song shows Malhotra and Sutaria romancing inside a hotel suite. Malhotra says that teh location of teh song has more relevence due to lockdown situation. 'We unintentionally made a song on the same situation where two people are trying to stay indoors and had fun. That was the feeling on the set,' Malhotra was quoted as saying by The Indian Express. The Bollywood stars starred together in 'Marjaavaan'.
