At 2019’s end, singer-songwriter Parteej Kuhad was in for a surprise when he found out that former POTUS, Barack Obama had singled out his song, cold /mess as one of2019’s favs. Kuhad’s song, cold/mess made an entry in the 35 list of Obama’s favourites that included other rock legends such as Bruce Springsteen.
"From hip-hop to country to The Boss, here are my songs of the year. If you're looking for something to keep you company on a long drive or help you turn up a workout, I hope there's a track or two in here that does the trick," the ex POTUS captioned the list.
Reacting to the news that his cold/mess has found a place in Obama’s iPod, Kuhad expressed how ‘shocked’ he was saying,
“I was playing Chinese Checkers with my mom and my girlfriend, when someone I knew from a music sharing platform shared his post with me. For the first few minutes, I was just staring at the post and wondering, why was I sent this post. Then I saw my song in his list and I was honestly shocked’’ Kuhad told HT.
“I am still honestly shocked. I don’t even know how it happened. Its not like that I am signed to a record label or anything like that. I don’t even know how he heard my song, or who made him listen to it,” he further added.
Featuring actors Zoya Hussain and Jim Sarbh, Kuhad's "cold/mess" featured on number 22 and the Delhi-based singer said he was honoured by the gesture.

There was so much amazing footage left from the cold/mess music video that the lovely folks at @jugaadmotionpictures made a super cute video for an old song of mine - Into The Night. This video magically came together from the uncut footage of the cold/mess video. These takes were from a sequence which never made it to the final cut. It’s been presented just as it was rolled. Not even the reflections were taken out. The film flares are natural leaks from processing and scanning. There couldn’t have been a better way to celebrate one year to the cold/mess video ð Thanks for all the love guys!
"This just happened and I don't think I'll sleep tonight. Totally flipping out. I have no idea how 'cold/mess' even reached him but thank you @barackobama, thank you universe. I didn't think 2019 could've gotten better, but damn was I wrong. What an honour," Kuhad replied on Obama's tweet.
Sarbh also gave a shout-out to the singer on Twitter.
Previously, Obama shared his favourite movies and TV shows of 2019, and the list includes Phoebe Waller-Bridge's "Fleabag" season two, limited series "Unbelievable", Martin Scorsese's "The Irishman" and Korean filmmaker Bong Joon-ho's genre-defying class drama "Parasite".
