Following allegations of sexual harassment by a multiple of women that included Sona Mohapatra, Anu Malik lost his seat as the judge in the Indian Idol panel. However, a few days ago, reports surfaced that Malik is returning once again as the judge. Following the news Sona Mohapatra did not hesitate to hold back anything regarding Malik’s return to the singing competition show despite having a tarnished reputation.
"The makers and channel decided to reinstate Anu Malik as one of the judges as he, with his shair-o-shayari, is synonymous with Indian Idol. He has judged every season since the reality show began airing in 2004’’ a source told Mid-Day regarding Malik’s comeback.
The rehabilitation of the multiple accused @IndiaMeToo Anu Malik by @SonyTV on Indian Idol within a year as judge is a slap to ALL the good people of #India who want a better & safer future for their children, let alone women. #AnuMalik #RatReturnsToTheGutter & #SpreadingFilth 🤮 https://t.co/6VWVMWmfjE

Taking it to Twitter, Sona lashed out at the decision of Malik’s return tweeting, ‘’The rehabilitation of the multiple accused @IndiaMeToo Anu Malik by @SonyTV on Indian Idol within a year as judge is a slap to ALL the good people of #India who want a better & safer future for their children, let alone women’’.
Anu Malik was removed from the show after multiple women accused him of sexual misconduct in light of the #MeToo movement. Shweta Pandit and Sona Mohapatra and Shweta Pandit were two of the people to come forward with the sexual harassment allegations.
As of now, Malik is reportedly currently shooting for the upcoming season alongside fellow judges Vishal Dadlani and Neha Kakkar.
