Politician and actor JK Rithesh, who was last seen in RJ Balaji’s LKG, died of cardiac arrest while he was campaigning in his hometown Ramanathapuram. He was 46 years old. As per the reports, he was rushed to the hospital after he complained of severe chest pain.
Trade analyst Ramesh Bala tweeted, ''#BREAKING : Actor and Ex-Lok Sabha MP #JKRitheesh who was recently seen in the movie #LKG is no more.. He died of a heart attack sometime back in #Ramanathapuram. May his soul RIP!''
Varalaxmi Sarathkumar paid her condolences via Twitter. She wrote, ''One of the nicest human beings I’ve ever met.. #JKRitheesh sudden deaths like this one is such a shock to the family.. I hope they find strength..let’s all take a min to mourn for him and may his soul rest in peace.. god bless you wherever you are sir.. u were an amazing soul.''
Rithesh played a negative role in LKG, which had RJ Balaji and Priya Anand in the lead roles. He has acted in several films like Kaanal Neer, Nayagan and Pen Singam. He was born in Kandy, Sri Lanka in 1973 and later, in 1976, his family migrated to Rameshwaram. He debuted with 2007’s Kaanal Neer, and later, he took a break from acting to join politics. He started off in politics with DMK, but in 2014, he left the party and joined AIADMK.
