Tamil superstar Vijay turned 45 today. Vijay's outstanding dialogue delivery, superb dance moves, action packed scenes and comic timings, his versatility is what made him a favourite among his fans. A day before his birthday, Vijay announced the official title of his upcoming movie along with the poster. Thalapathy 63, which has now been named Bigil is set against North Madras backdrop and features the actor in dual roles of father and son.

Like many other Tamil stars Vijay is famous by a name presented by his fans. The actor’s full name is actually Joseph Vijay Chandrasekhar. However, fans gave him the Ilayathalapathy title after a couple of his films and the title stuck.
Vijay has said, at many occasions, that had it not been for Thalaiva he would have not become such a good actor. In fact, according to certain reports, Vijay landed a role in a film after he delivered a Rajinikanth dialogue from Annamalai during auditions.
In his 25 years of working as an actor, Vijay has worked with over 20 new directors on their maiden project and even delivered box office hits.
Vijay was awarded the prestigious Kalaimaamani award by the Tamil Nadu State Government. He has also won 3 State awards for his outstanding performance in films and a doctorate for his contribution in Tamil cinema by the Dr. MGR Educational and Research Institute.
He has worked in a number of Tamil movies as a child artist. Some of these movies are Vetri, Naan Sigappu Manithan, Sattam Oru Vilayaattu, Vasantha Ragam and Kudumbam.
Vijay Ilayathalapathy’s sister Vidhya died at a tender age of 2. He continues to remember her and hence named his production house V.V. Creations before his sister abd his name Vidhya- Vijay, displaying his never ending love for his deceased sibling.
