Popular Malayalam actor Kollam Ajith breathed his last on Thursday morning. Reportedly, the senior actor died after suffering from stomach-related ailments. He was undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Kochi and reportedly passed away during the treatment.
Kollam Ajith is survived by wife Prameela, daughter Gayathri and son Sreehari.
A popular face in the Malayalam film industry, Ajith was known for his villainous roles in the movie.
Interestingly, Ajith never dreamt of being an actor and was interested in movie making. However, destiny had some other plans for him and he got his first break in filmmaker Padmarajan's 1983 directorial Parannu Parannu Parannu.
Since then was no looking back for Ajith, who then went on to work in around 500 movies films across south Indian languages in his career of over 34 years. Some of his popular movies are Yuvajanotsavam, Nadodikkattu, No.20 Madras Mail, Nirnayam, Aaraam Thampuran, Olympiyan Anthony Adam etc.
Kolam Ajith was last seen in 2012 release Ivan Ardhanaari. In 2016, he took a break from acting and donned the heat of a director-cum-script writer for Malayalam movie Calling Bell.
