Priya Mani, who captured several hearts for her performance in the critically-acclaimed web-series The Family Man, has been reportedly roped in to play an important role in J Jayalalithaa's biopic Thalaivi. As per the latest update, Priya Mani will play Sasikala, a close confidante of Jayalalithaa. An official announcement is yet awaited from the makers.
In the much-awaited biopic, Kangana Ranaut will play former Tamil Nadu chief minister, J Jayalalithaa in the film. Recently, the makers released the first official teaser of Thalaivi, which was met with a lot of negative feedback. Many pointed out that Kangana Ranaut tried hard to resemble J Jayalalithaa but failed miserably.
The actor-turned-politician, who passed away on December 5, 2016 due to cardiac arrest, is fondly referred to as 'Puratchi Thalaivi', which means 'revolutionary leader'. Actor Arvind Swamy, best remembered for his roles in Mani Ratnam's Roja and Bombay, will play the late Tamil superstar and former Chief Minister MG Ramachandran in the biopic Thalaivi.
The film will release in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil languages. Kangana recently admitted that she finds it difficult to learn the Tamil language. "I am finding it difficult to learn Tamil. This film will be released in Hindi and Tamil, so we will do something about it. Obviously, I have to mug up those dialogues because Tamil is not an easy language. Earlier, I was trying to learn the complete Tamil language because I have learned English as well, but now I am learning Tamil as per the demand of film's script," said Kangana at a recent media event.

Kangana has four looks spanning different ages in the film and Hollywood Make-up artist Jason Collins has been roped in for Kangana's makeover. Jason has worked in several Hollywood blockbuster films like Captain Marvel, Hunger Games and Blade Runner in it prosthetics and makeup department. He is a recognized expert in the design and application of special FX makeup and character designs.
