One of the best-known names in Indian Cinema, Rajinikanth, completes 44 years in the film industry today. Lovingly addressed as Thalaivar by his fans, Rajinikanth has not only established himself as a Tamil actor, but has also appeared in several Telugu, Hindi and Kannada films. The superstar, who made his film debut at the age of 25 in a Tamil film called Apoorva Raagangal, has come a long way in the industry and the netizens are busy celebrating it on Twitter.

A hashtag #44YrsofUnmatchableRAJINISM is trending on all social media platforms. From celebs to fans, many wished the veteran for his new achievement in his career.

His first solo-movie was Bairavi, which released in 1978. The title 'Superstar' was also given to the actor during the release of the movie. Rajini's first Hindi film was Andha Kanoon, which released in 1982. He was honoured with Padma Vibhushan in 2016.

Thalaivar was last seen in Petta. His next project is titled Darbar. The actor will be seen playing a cop in the film and will be donning the khakhi after almost two decades. Rajinikanth’s Darbar will see Nayanthara as the leading lady and she has already shot for her portions. Actor Prateik Babbar has also joined the cast of Darbar and will be seen playing the lead antagonist.

In an earlier interview, director AR Murugadoss said that the film is not a political entertainer. He assured that Darbar will be a full-fledged commercial flick which will appeal to people of all age groups. The film is slated to release on Pongal 2020.
