Filmmaker Srijit Mukherjee on Thursday said he will make a sequel to his 2011 blockbuster 'Baishe Srabon', shooting for which will commence soon.
The second installation -- 'Dwitiyo Purush' -- willtake off from where the original concluded, Mukherji said,announcing the film on the 78th death anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore.
He, however, said the sequel will not be inspired fromany of Tagore's works. "'Dwitiyo Purush' will see actor Parambrata Chattopadhyay reprise the role of detective Abhijit Pakrashi,"the National Award-winning director told PTI.
The film will also introduce a few new characters. "Like 'Baishe Srabon', it will also be a psychologicalthriller and is scheduled to go on floors soon. I wish tostick to the same genre through which both the masses andselect audiences will connect," Mukherji said. The sequel is slated for release on January 23, 2020.
