Telugu actress Rashmi Gautam landed herself into trouble after she rammed her car into a pedestrian. The driver of the car has been taken into custody for the incident, according to Times of India report. As per the report, the actress was heading back home in Gajuwaka (Visakhapatnam) from a shoot in car provided by the production house on March 17.

The pedestrian, identified as Sayyed Abdul, has been severely injured and is now being treated in a private hospital. While talking to the publication, the actress revealed, ''I was just 15-20 minutes away from my home when this happened. There were no lights at this part of the highway and this man was running across the road when we, unfortunately, hit him.''

The actress also told that she and her driver picked up Sayyed after the accident and took him to the hospital. While explaining herself, the actress told the publication, "Why should I be silent when I’m not at fault? What happened was really unfortunate and we took complete responsibility and did what we must. In fact, who should be blamed here? The man who was lazy enough to take a foot over the bridge but crossed the highway or the local authority that did not check on the functionality of the lights on the highway."

Rashmi made her acting debut in Telugu with Holi in 2002. She has also acted in Tamil, Hindi and Kannada films. She entered into the small screen industry in 2007 and hosted over 10 reality shows on television.
