Celebrated Marathi actor Ramesh Bhatkar took his last breath on Monday after battling with cancer. He was 70 and was suffering from cancer for more than one-and-a-half years.
"He fought bravely as much as he could. But in the last one month, he was in tremendous pain and we all were worried. He was in ICU for the last fifteen days," actor Jaywant Wadkar told PTI.
Bhatkar's last rites will be held at 10.30 pm at Shivaji Park. The veteran actor was known for his roles in the TV series Commander and Hello Inspector and had worked for more than 30 years as an actor in mainstream Hindi and Marathi films such as Aai Pahije, Kucch To Hai and Bhavesh Joshi Superhero.
He was also seen in The Accidental Prime Minister' that released earlier this year. The late actor had played former Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan in the film. Anupam Kher, Sonali Kulkarni, Sanjay Manjrekar, Shriya Pilgaonkar, were among those who took to Twitter to express heartfelt condolences to his family and well-wishers. Here are the tweets:

There wasn’t a more genuine cricket fan than Ramesh Bhatkar. If there were 20 people in the Garware pavilion watching a Ranji game, Ramesh would be one of those. RIP#RameshBhatkar
