Balika Vadhu, the TRP-spinner, is finally going off air after eight long years, according to Entertainment channel Colors. The channel has not revealed the reason behind the decision. However, sources claim that falling ratings led to its end.
According to sources, the channel says there was no sense to drag the serial further as it had run its course. The changes in show timings and jump from one generation to another are said to be some of the factors that affected the show ratings. The final shoot will be done on July 22, while it will be aired for the last time on July 31.
Lead actors Mahhi Vij, Ruslaan Mumtaz say they are not aware of the development and there has been no official announcement on the same. “I have not been informed officially about this. It is unfortunate if Balika Vadhu is coming to an end. I wish the show was promoted well as no one knew that it was airing at an early evening time slot. For me, it’s time to move on professionally,” Mahhi said.
The show highlighted the issues like child marriage, widow re-marriage and adult education. Balika Badhu recently made it to the Limca Books of Records for being the longest running daily fiction soap in Hindi.
