The popular comic television show 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah' recently landed in trouble after the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena raised objection over a dialogue in which a character said Hindi was Mumbais language. After expressing their disapproval, the workers of Raj Thackeray led party also went at the residence of Amit Bhatt, who said the dialogue. The actor, who plays the character of Jethalal’s father, was seen apologising in the pictures that have surfaced.
In the episode, the residents of Gokuldham society end up fighting with each other as they want the 'suvichar' to be written on the board in their respective languages. Bapu Ji tells the residents how all the languages must be respected as they belong to different cultures and carry a rich history.
Seeing the controversy getting bigger, twitter handle of the show-TMKOC posted an apology on the issue.
The only thing we believe in spreading is love and happiness! We apologize if we have hurted any sentiments through our show. We believe in unity in diversity & respect for each and every religion and its mother tongue. Keep smiling & keep watching #TMKOC! @AsitKumarrModi @sabtv pic.twitter.com/WoIYgyNo3n

Meanwhile, take a look of real-life pictures of Amit Bhatt who has been playing the role of Baapuji since the inception of the show.
The role of Champaklal Jayantilal Gada also known as ‘Bapuji’ is being acted by Amit Bhatt. He is also most senior person in Gokuldham society (the residences of all characters). Champaklal Gada, father of Jethalal often resolves the tiff among members of Gokuldham society. There is very hilarious tuning between Champaklal Gada and his son Jethalal. Gada dons ‘dhoti and kurta’ in show. He also wears 'Gandhi cap'.
